Hey everyone, my name’s Kason but I go by “Kalo” on Twitch, with the username “Kalology”. When I was looking for names, I knew I wanted it to be something representative of myself, so naturally I had to start with the letter K. I also wanted it to reflect my goals as a streamer. “Kalology” is the study of beauty and I really wanted to strive in having that present in the community. Along with that, the colors and branding of my stream (blue/purple/pink) are meant to say that no matter who you are and how you identify, you’re welcome in our community. Today, I definitely feel proud in feeling I’ve achieved that goal with the many people i have surrounding and supporting me. I’ve always been a competitive gamer, and felt that streaming would make my time spent gaming more productive, plus I feel that broadcasting is beneficial in many ways socially and mentally.

I started streaming officially on November 2, 2015, so over a year and a half now!

I used to work a production job at my university which was nice, but well, felt like a job. I’ve always wanted to be solely doing more with myself, and so as of this year, I’m indeed only working through this stream. As a full-time streamer, most of your time spent playing games is technically work, full of interaction, constantly talking, and broadcast planning + upkeep. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but becoming a full-time streamer definitely changes your gaming hobby into something entirely new. Less relaxing, more rewarding. That being said when I do get some time to play games off-stream, it’ll either be the games I’m usually streaming (as of late, Breakaway, which I hope to be playing professionally soon, and PlayerUnknown’s Battleground) along with a bit of Hearthstone and Clash Royale on the side.

Like I said PUBG and Breakaway have been the majority of my stream time lately. I’m streaming in hopes to be productive and make something of all this, and ever since last October at the 2016 TwitchCon, Breakaway has been the core of those goals. I’m a strong community figure for that game and hope to be playing it professionally some day, however I’m also open to the idea (dream??) of becoming a developer for the game, and think I’d honestly make a great balance designer, despite my technical inexperience in the field (can’t code at all, but my passion and perspective  for the games make me, in my opinion, an invaluable asset.

Oh boy, there are so many great games out there. Some of my favorite “experience” games have to be The Stanley Parable, The Beginner’s Guide, and The Turning Test, with some other larger favorites being the original Halo Trilogy (Halo 3 is my favorite campaign of all time), Far Cry 3, and Dying Light.

I’ve always been a natural leader and socialite but also definitely a strong introvert when it comes to people I’m not familiar with. There’s no way around it, becoming a very welcoming, entertaining, and yet realistic-feeling streamer is something you put a lot of work into. That being said, I’d say I got into the groove fairly quickly, and have been improving ever since.

Be on the look out for my biggest announcement ever on my twitter (/kalological), and keep this in mind: you never tell any memorable stories about the easy road.

Wish to join Kalo on Twitch? Please do! You can find him at twitch.tv/kalology.
