Art is another way to one’s soul whether you make art yourself or if you admire it at an art gallery or even while watching and supporting a Twitch Streamer. Here is another wonderful streamer who loves to create art with her hands as well as enjoys the art of game playing.
- What is your Twitch name? greeyzone (yes all lower cases – that’s important)
- Is there a special reason you chose that name? Mainly, I happen to grow up with two nationalities – not by law, but I was joining a foreign community from kindergarten on and during school. So I learned another culture while being with my own at home. That has since the age of 12 or 13 made me question my identity ever since. Am I the one, my parents taught me – Or am I the one, which I have been included in? I speak both languages fluently and I know both cultural traditions. But where does that place me? It places me in a grey zone of things. As you move on in life and evolve with age, I figured a lot of other things fitted into this name as well. I have always been the awkward kid in school. I always wore my own idea of fashion, which never fitted into the current one. I always was the weird social one, who just randomly mentioned something off-topic from the deepest of my mind. Haha, I caught a lot of weird looks in my life so far – so to say. Also I am the middle child, I have two brothers. Anyone, who’s the middle child knows, how invisible you can get sometimes. I got away with a lot of trouble. And that’s where my nickname basically comes from. Oh yes, and when I first made it a long time ago, long before Twitch, the simple “greyzone” was taken, and instead of it turning into “greyzone2” I still wanted it to look neat. So I basically stretched the E. And it has proven to be quite unique nickname through platforms. Xbox, Twitch, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Steam, Gmail, Snapchat… I am pretty sure if you find a greeyzone somewhere, chances are high, that it is me 🙂
- Why did you become a Twitch Streamer? I have been following a lot of creative people on YouTube and I am also fascinated by some Vlogs. One of my favorite YouTuber’s at that time was streaming on Twitch. And I was so truly fascinated by watching her paint and interact with her audience – LIVE! She was talking so much about stuff I am used to hear in vlogs – and more. So after that I just explored the Creative area of Twitch and saw so many other artists showing their traditional art skills in front of people and having a good time. Some focused on the art itself, some focused more on the community. You can basically do whatever you want. And the Creative Monster in me was always knocking on the door, asking to get out. So Last year I decided, I am going to start streaming Creative myself to keep me practicing and keep my creativity flowing all over the place. Also I wanted to be among like-minded people, I wanted to practice art, to talk about it and to watch other people doing art. And I haven’t regret it since.
- Why did you choose to stream for Twitch? I didn’t really know any other streaming website at that time. YouTube has not launched their live-feature either and Twitch has been creative only – there wearing all the great browsing options that you can find today. I really liked the community and I was in panels, where we could discuss Twitch Creative development and features with some of the Twitch Staff. I felt heard and I felt seen. I felt like my opinion mattered and made an actual impact. I have had so many viewers visiting my stream since I started, who had a locked up Creative Monster as well and dared to let it out. They either started streaming themselves, or they kept me up to date with their creative progress. It is really loving to see all this shared interest of ours. I feel like the Creative community on Twitch is very supportive and respectful too. We barely have “trolls” or “haters” coming around, like they do in the gaming area. It gives you a lot of confidence with your art progress or what you paint. No one ever said to me on Twitch, that my produced art looks like shit (other than myself.)
- How long have you been a streamer? I have been streaming Creative since 1st of April 2016 and recently added some gaming too, I think since February 2017. But my main focus will always be Creative.
- Do you only stream or do you have another job? If you are comfortable in telling my readers, what is your other job? I started streaming, when I was unemployed after University. But since then I got a full-time job within IT, Marketing and Communication. I started out streaming 3 times a week, but could feel it was difficult to maintain after I got a job. Now I am only streaming Creative on Sundays and my community knows that.
- What are your favorite games to play? Well, since I am quite new to the gaming part I can say I like Ark, Minecraft, Destiny, Far Cry Primal. I still appreciate the game’s creative work, sometimes I enjoy Indie games too. When it comes to Art I started out with painting acrylic paintings and have now evolved a big interest in watercolors too.
- What are your favorite games to stream? Well I always appreciated the social aspect of gaming, when it comes to streaming. I would always prefer a game that I can play with others in Voice more than playing only me. Even Minecraft, which might be quite boring to watch, can be quite exciting, if you have the right people around for entertainment.
- Do you have any games that you would like to recommend to my readers to play and why? Oh yes, I love this little Indie game “Leo’s Fortune” (which is the only game I ever played through) … The graphics are really nice and I like the puzzle-effect it has in each level to move on. Also the story is quite funny. Same goes for “Unravel”, that game is really really pretty. And I like the gameplay and navigation of it. You are basically a yarn-bundle who has to find the way back home. And you use the yarn to hang, swing or jump around and things. It is really cute. Then there is “The Cave” where you have to solve puzzles too, while a main Voice comments how retarded you are – it is really hilarious.
- Was it hard to talk to your viewers when you first became a streamer? How long before you became at ease with streaming? Oh god I remember…. I think when I first started streaming, I was streaming a couple of days in a row. And I barely talked for the first 10 hours until someone actually approached me in chat and asked stuff i could answer. To this day today I am still a quiet creative streamer. But when the chat runs, I can talk a lot. I feel the “empty-talking-to-noone” is easier in gaming. There you basically can think out loud of your in-game choices and experiences. But in Creative it is also okay to stay silent for a while, when painting or being creative in other ways.
