Writing Exercise
Have 5 characters play the game telephone and make sure it involves some gossip. Have the phrase change a little each time until the end when they react to what was said or what they thought was said.
Side Note
I am going to make up new characters for this exercise to give Scout, Jennifer and Katlyn a much needed break.
My Story
A group of teens sat in a line on the couch. They had grown bored of the movie they were watching and decided to play the game of telephone.
Shelly braided her long black hair as she thought of something to say in Rachel’s ears. She wanted it to be something good so that she knew it would sound bad by the time it got to the last person.
“Are you ready, Shelly?” Emily asked as she pushed her short red hair behind her ear. She was the last person in line.
Shelly grinned and nodded. “Okay, I think I’ve got it.” She looked down the line. “Rachel, Tracy, Cassie, are you all ready?”
The girls clapped their hands and excitedly said that they were ready for the game to start. Emily made herself comfortable and waited for whatever Shelly would say.
“Okay,” Shelly said and she bent closer to Rachel. “Jordan is really hot and is tall.”
Rachel leaned over to Tracy and whispered, “Jordan is a dork and is tall.”
Tracy looked confused for a minute and then leaned over to Cassie. She raised her eyebrows and shrugged before she leaned over and whispered to her friend. “Jordan is a duck and likes fall.”
Cassie couldn’t help but laugh and shook her head. “Are you sure?” Tracy just shrugged before Cassie moved over to Emily and whispered, “Jordan is a flirt and likes bars.”
Emily covered her mouth and burst into laughter. “Okay so this is what I heard. Jordan is a dick and has balls.”
Her friends gasped then they collapsed onto the floor, falling off the couch in an uncontrollable fit of laughter.
Shelly laughed and shook her head. “No, I said Jordan is hot and is tall.”
The girls laid down, still laughing hard over the game. They all at up and changed places, ready to play the game again.
