Somewhere To Work
As a writer, there are some of us who enjoy going out into the world to write, even if we are introverts. I have gone to coffee hops, parks, and since we moved to TN, my front and back porches. But none of them have called me like my favorite coffee shop in my little town of Lafayette.
I have found my second home, my safe place, my writer’s haven. The coffee shop I’m talking about is the comfortable place called Beans and Leaf’s Coffee Cafe. I was looking for a place like this and I had tried another coffee shop, but to me, the vibes between me and the staff and the place were just off. But here, I feel like I can be myself. I love laughing and joking with the owners, an amazing couple, and like I said, I feel so comfortable here.
They know me by name here now and they can tell when I haven’t been around, either to just get my coffee fix or to sit down and work while getting my coffee fix. They ask about my girls and my husband, since they know about his issues. They ask about if our youngest likes school since this is her first year of being in school. They always have a smile on their face and sometimes there is a mischievous twinkle in the eye when the wife is trying new recipes out. They play great country music and are so friendly. They have even asked me to be a taste tester for their handmade muffins. If you love muffins, this is the place to go. OMG!
My go to when I come here is a large hot Hawaiian Salted Caramel Macchiato. Sometimes when it’s hot, I have gotten it cold, but that is delicious and I don’t really try others. Though, I should venture out and try new things. I Have for a while had their energy drinks which are delicious, and you can get it with regular water or soda water. But they taste better, in my opinion, with soda water. That is my husband’s go to here, and he loves it when either I or the girls choose the flavors to in the drink. Not going to lie, it’s fun to choose the flavors and experiment with the combinations, especially since he is the one drinking it and not me.
But recently, I tried something new and I have to say; it is delicious. Never thought tea and fruit could mingle together and bring such delight as this drink does. It doesn’t have that overpowering taste of tea, but just enough to let you know it’s there. And the fruit is delicious with just enough sweetness to give you a hug.
On top of all the coffees, teas (they started selling boba in their teas, too), hot chocolate (which my girls love besides me buying them milky as Cara, my youngest, calls it), energy drinks, and other drinks, they sell delicious foods. Besides the muffins, they also make by hand scones, cookies, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, these cream cheese, egg, and other yumminess they have appropriately called Heavens (both spicy and regular), biscuits and gravy, and my favorite the sausage and cheese biscuits. Their food goes fast in the mornings, but when you can buy it, it’s amazing. The flavors that burst from everything they cook make it like you’re at home with mom cooking. Fast and ready to go, a lot of those who work stop here for their coffee and breakfast.
I am sitting here now, writing this, and wishing I could stay here all day. But, I have been here for quite a few hours and soon I will need to head home to do laundry and then go pick up Cara from school.
But I can confidently say as a writer, I have found my writer’s haven here at the Beans and Leaf’s Coffee Cafe. It is so quiet when there aren’t customers, welcoming when you come in to either order to go or stay, and my piece of heaven where I can confidently work on my books and blogs.
If you are ever passing through my little town in TN, stop here and enjoy.
