Bushes rustle catching the little boy’s attention. He looks at the forest around him for a moment but doesn’t see anything. He shrugs and returns to playing with the little army men he had snuck on the trip. He makes them fight each other when the bushes rustle again. This time the bushes were closer to him.
The little boy gasps when he sees something big appear in the corner of his eye. He freezes.
“Donny, sweety, where are you? It’s time to come back to camp.”
Donny jumps to his feet, gathers his army men, and shoves them in his pocket. His head shoots up when he hears a scream. It came from where he and his family are camping.
Donny hides behind a rock when he hears the screaming continue. He covers his ears, the army men falling and scattering around his feet in the dirt.
The screams echo in his ears as he scrunches up his face and starts to cry. “Stop… please stop…” He whispers it over and over again.
The forest grows quiet. Donny lowers his hands and opens his eyes. He looks around, hearing something huge moving through the brush behind him.
Donny stares at the ground, breathing heavily as he sits as still as he can. He stays there until the sounds of whatever creature was behind him disappears in the distance.
Donny slowly stands and looks around, shaking. He ignores the fallen troops and runs back towards their camp. “Mom!” He skids to a stop when he gets to the middle of their camp site.
“Dad? DeeDee? Mom?”
Donny looks around to see their tents shredded, their clothes tossed around, and their items either missing or broken. Donny looks confused at the red stuff everywhere.
Donny turns around, feeling someone behind him, watching his every move. Not seeing anyone, he hurries towards the tent.
He lifts a piece up and screams.
Behind him, a tree branch breaks.
Donny spins around and screams when he comes face to face with Big Foot. Big Foot stares at the little boy and lets out a roar.
