Wounded Warrior Project- Ashley Gray
Prompt # 2- Photo
Sasha stares out of the filthy window on the second floor. She has her music blasting so she can’t hear the party going on in the apartment below. It’s well past midnight and she can’t sleep. Not because of the party, but because of the dream.
She was standing in a field full of rocks, trees, and wildflowers. She knew the field and yet she didn’t. It felt like home yet strange.
Sasha had woken up with tears on her cheeks because she’s still stuck in her one-bedroom apartment. She feels trapped and needs to find a way out.
Jumping out of bed, she turns on her laptop. Once it’s on, she scrolls through jobs she is qualified for and even those she’s not but will be soon. She is doing well in college and once she graduates, she’s quitting her current job.
Her eyes widen when she spots a job, a house-sitting job, in another country, in Ireland. There sitting around the house is the field from her dreams. In the middle of the field is the beautiful rock cracked with a tree bursting through.
This is the place from her dreams, and she has to get there no matter what.
