Just Wow
I have been keeping this announcement a secret because I wanted a special edit by the amazing Nycole Evans, who has a Facebook page called Magical Edits by Nycole, to make the announcement with. She actually did two edits for me for this, my professional headshot that will be used on the back cover of the book and on the publisher’s website, and my special edit. I have done a blog about her and her edits a while ago, but I will link it down below so you can go back and read it.
BUT as of the end of 2021, something huge and amazing and shocking happened to me in another of my Facebook groups, one called Moms Who Write. There was a time that I felt down and just wanted to vent a little. Thankfully, this group and these moms are amazing. They helped pick me back up, brushed me off, shoved a pen back into my hand, and helped me get back to editing a finished book I had finished a couple of years ago.
Well, one mom messaged me and told me she wanted to know more about my book and gave me her website, telling me to query to her. I was not sure at first because I was so nervous, but in the end I am so glad that I did.
I sent in what the website asked for and Stacy got back to me almost immediately. She said that she had loved the first chapter, and that she wanted a full manuscript. I told her about how it was a horror paranormal book and that I am descriptive in my killings. She asked me to send her the page numbers with the full manuscript so she could read them herself. And now Stacy lovingly calls me her psycho Stephen King. I am honored by the new nickname. Goes well with Crazdwriter.
At the end of 2021, I signed a contract with the independent publishing company called Hear Our Voices LLC and right now my book is going through the slaughterhouse, AKA the editor. And I cannot wait to see what the editor thinks, recommended changes, and how I can make my horror paranormal book even better.
I cannot wait to tell you all the date they will release the book. It will be available at various independent bookstores, as well as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I also hope that libraries will carry this book and any future book I get published.
I am still shocked and in awe that I have finally found someone who believes in my writing as much as my amazing husband, Ryan Gordon, and my two girls. Ryan, Kierra, Cara- you three are my reason for writing and you are the reasons I never gave up even though I wanted to. Thank you for always pushing me to write and believing in my abilities to write. I just hope that others will enjoy my writing.
Oh, and a fun fact about my upcoming book, Pahulu Hale. It means Haunted House in Hawaiian and my amazing friend, Yvonne Hoffman, helped me pick the title for this book. I was stumped on what to name my book and asked for help on my Facebook page. I had other suitable names, but this one was just perfect since my book is based on the island of Oahu. Yvonne, THANK YOU!!! Your suggestion truly captures the essence of my story.
Stacy, thank you and your husband for allowing me to join your band of authors and to want to publish my book. It means a great deal to me and I hope I do you proud with this book and others in the future if you will have my other finished books…. once I finish them. And thank you for the new nickname. I love it!
And I want to, of course, thank my parents. Without them installing my love of reading, I probably wouldn’t even think of picking up a pen and try writing my own books. Reading had always been my outlet and escape while growing up. And without that, who knows if I would be a passionate writer?
Dear reader, I hope that once my book is available, you will grab a copy of Pahulu Hale- Haunted House and enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. And if you don’t enjoy it, that’s okay, too. I want to thank you for just getting my book and giving it a try. That means more to me than anything.
I write my blogs and my books for myself as an outlet for the many voices/characters in my head who won’t leave me alone and want their stories to be told. I also write for my two girls, to show them that with determination, passion, hard work, and never giving up, their dreams an and will come true, too. I don’t want them to try something, fail and just give up. I want them to try, fail, and try again until they succeed and are happy with that success. And I also write for you, reader, as hopefully a fun way to escape your reality for a while and dive into the world of fiction.
Keep an eye out for a new blog with the release date in the next few months!
Congratulations on being published. What a wonderful occurrence and experience. Surely you worked hard on it and it will come out lovely. Many kuddos and I will get a copy!!
Thank you so much. I am so excited and still can’t believe it.
