Book Review
I was working recently with an amazing editor, Holly Hill Mangin, on my own book when she let it slide that she also wrote books. And she told me that she self-published a few books. Well of course being a love of horror and her being a horror writer/editor, I downloaded her book Nora which is a Fanfiction Novella based off of the Savage North Chronicles.
I have never read a Savage North Chronicles but I definitely will after reading this fanfiction!
It grabs you and drags you into an adventure unlike any other from the start. Yes, it’s a post-apocalyptic zombie novella, but the way Holly writes this, you would think that the zombies have more mental abilities, knowing what they are doing, since they do say hungry. But again you have to remember that even though they had once been alive, they were now just hungry shells of their former selves.
And then there is Nora, a woman who has survived for so long with her fiancé, Phil. They were doing so good until, well, until Paul was attacked by one of the crazed shells. Nora did her best to save her love, but even he told her to run. After the incident, she starts to lose her mind, slowly, but she does start to lose her mind.
Then she rescues a little girl, unfortunately without getting seriously harmed, and her world begins to quietly implode. The little girl, Aria, shows Nora that she can talk to animals after surviving the virus. Nora then find her own abilities, one where she can go into a person’s mind and control them in a way. While she is perfecting her gift, she is writing letters to her fiancĂ©, Phil, still not accepting that he is gone.
Then they see a new group of people who have survived as well, Nora and Aria having been the only ones for so long. But Nora doesn’t go to them, instead watches from afar, sending Aria to spy on them.
What happens next? Well, you will just have to grab yourself a copy of Nora and find out yourself. It is an amazing read and quite the adventure. I will also read the other book that this fanfiction is based on so I can learn more about the characters Holly has introduced me in her novella.
Here is the Amazon eBooks link to the book, Nora. Right now it is free so grab a copy, read it, and leave your own review. Reviews always help authors.
