Book Review
When I said I would be willing to read this book by Penny for an honest review, I didn’t know what I was walking into. A waterpark that has a witch? How is that going to work?
But let me tell you, it definitely works. This book is NOT for anyone who doesn’t have a sense of humor.
In the beginning of the book, Penny describes this amazing waterpark. A waterpark that would a be a dream to go to when it’s hot during the summer. Slides, lazy river, wave pools, souvenirs, cold frozen drinks for adults and children, and food including something called a nacho boat. Every parent and child alike dream come true. It has a cute theme with pirate frogs, a purple Octopus named Mr. Octopus, a cool seal named Sully the Seal, and a mermaid, Miss Mermaid. It’s a water park I’d want to hang out at, especially in the lazy river. The water park is called Frog Island Waterpark.
It starts off calm and peaceful, fun to be had. But chaos is about to rain upon the guests without them knowing it when someone makes a bad decision and wakes up the bog witch, Zelda. Once she wakes up and sees that quite a bit of her bog has been built on by the water park, she is confused and a bit angry. She goes into the park since it is connected to where she lives and finds a waterpark full of screaming kids, teens, and adults having fun. She tries something called a frozen lemonade by taking it from a guest and her mind is blown by the deliciousness.
But it doesn’t start to go downhill until after she gets kicked out, she gets back into the waterpark through her bog, and goes back in. This time she steals a frozen lemonade, and the security guard once again goes to kick her out.
She gets angry and it’s over. She casts a dark spell and…
I won’t tell you anything more because if you like horror comedies, enjoy mayhem and gory death, and have a dark sense of humor, then you’ll have to buy yourself a copy. There are a few mistakes in the book, but nothing that takes away from it.
I had a blast reading this book and I have gotten her other books so I can read them as well. Her humor is dark, hilarious, and top notch. My husband asked me a few times why I was chuckling, and I told him it was because of the book.
I’ll write another blog for the next book I read once I get the chance.
To Penny Moonz, brava! I fully enjoyed myself and want to thank you for not just sending me one of your books, but for also signing it for me, too. Keep writing you hilarious Zelda, the bog witch, books. And just keep writing, period! I look forward to reading another one of your books soon.
