It is always great to find another writer who enjoys streaming not only their writing but also streams games to keep their channel diverse. And not only that but he is also introduces streaming to his family and friends, trying to get them involved in it as well. So on that note, allow me to introduce you to another streamer that I am new in following, Dukrunner.
- What is your twitch name?
My Twitch name is Duskrunner π
2. Is there a reason why you chose that name?
It’s actually the third name I’ve been through. The first was Marobashi. Second was Sermonal. Duskrunner is near and dear to me from my World of Warcraft days, and it factors into all of my writing. I’m a big believer in holistic representation of oneself. All of my previous names meant something to me, but Duskrunner was the most accurate, and easiest to pronounce as a bonus.
3. Why did you become a Twitch Streamer?
To be honest, I tried to get my kid into it, and later my girlfriend got curious about streaming, took it up, and I got to observe that. I figured “I could have fun with this!” And yeah, it’s become something of a mission of mine to … well … have fun putting myself out there!
4. Why did you become a streamer for Twitch instead of another gaming platform?
Twitch has all my peeps! I’ve always been a D&D/video game fan, and was encouraged to find out that they had a special platform set up for artists. I just felt right to be here, even hearing about “other” platforms after the fact. Twitch is where I belong π
5. How long have you been a streamer?
I’ve only been streaming for a year, and as Duskrunner since May of ’18. Serious streaming began in November of ’18, but the legwork was done all throughout the year. I’m a writer, and I really wanted Nanowrimo to be my official transition into becoming a regular streamer.
6. Do you only stream or do you have another job? And if youβre comfortable saying what, what is your other job?
Streaming is fun for me, but I respect those who have it as their profession. I’m a dad, and while I wish I could have streaming as my full-time, providing job, the one that presently does the providing is as a waiter in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
7. What do you stream mostly? Games? Creative? Another category on Twitch?
Mostly I stream my writing process, but I also like to bust out my guitar and let off a little energy when it feels right, and I like to play chess, and occasionally I’ll jump into an MMO, but I’m a roleplayer at heart, so I like my writing/guitar combo.
8. What are your favorite games to play if you play games as well?
I like chess. It’s intimate, and players can be better than you without any judgement. It’s also fast, timeless, and most people know about it, if not how to play it. Do you play chess?
9. Do you ever stream games on Twitch?
I do stream chess on occasion, and I’m open to streaming other games. I dunno – I like the writing right now. I like to game, and if I find one I’m happy to stream, I’ll include that as well.
10. Do you have any games youβd like to recommend to my readers to play and why?
I think most people should play Dungeons & Dragons. Most of the video games we play today can trace their roots back to some aspect of D&D.
11. Was it hard to talk to your viewers when you first became a streamer? How long before you became at ease with streaming?
I used to sweat so bad when people came in to chat with me! So weird, because I’m used to being on the spot at work. I’m still pretty nervous most of the time, but I have fun, and I really enjoy the people who find their way into my channel π
12. Would you like to tell my readers anything else about yourself or your channel?
Not much else.. I really appreciate the people I’ve met here, and if I can bring a little levity and friendship into their lives, then I’m on the right track π
He is very humble and fun guy to chat with whether he is playing a game on stream or working on his writing. He is also another great guy to talk to if you yourself write and need to bounce ideas off of wether during his stream or if you private message him. If you’d like to heck out his channel and see when he streams, here is the link.
