Allow me to introduce you to Mr. Mike again, but this time as a new Twitch Streamer. Like I said before, he wears many hats and he decided recently to try on the hat of streamer and I have to say he has been doing a pretty good job with that hat on. I have gone to his stream and have followed his stream so I can chat with him and chill in his stream. So here he is again, but this time as a Twitch Streamer.
- What is your Twitch name?
My twitch name is mrmikeMTL.
2. Is there a special reason you chose that name?
It is my teaching name. I added the MTL to represent Montreal (where I am from). It also separates me from all the million Mikes out there online.
3. Why did you become a Twitch streamer?
I started streaming in late November 2020 due to the pandemic. I needed to find something to do to fill the social gap during the constant lockdowns we face here in Quebec. I am already pretty active on twitter so this feels like an extension of that.
4. Why did you choose to stream on Twitch and not another streaming platform?
I have always watched other twitch streamers for a variety of games. I was comfortable and familiar with it.
5. How long have you been a streamer?
I started at the end of November 2020 until present. I became a twitch affiliate at the beginning of January.
6. Do you only stream or do you have another job? If you are comfortable in telling my readers, what is your other job?
I currently stream three days a week. I am a teacher by day. I teach children with autism at the primary level (all levels).
7. What are your favorite games to play?
I really enjoy playing real-time strategy games (RTS). For example, Starcraft 1 & 2, Warcraft: Reforged, and Northgard. I also play NHL 21 ( I love hockey).
8. What are your favorite games to stream? Do you only stream games or do you stream anything else?
I am currently streaming Northgard and NHL 21. I discovered Northgard in early December and decided it would be great to learn and stream at the same time. For those that have tuned in, I have been streaming the story mode part of the game.
9. Do you have any games you would recommend my readers to play, and why?
I would definitely recommend Northgard if you want something challenging. It has back story and lore based on Norse mythology. This game is not about necessarily crushing your enemy with an army. There is a variety of win conditions. Surviving, feeding your people, and happiness are your primary concern. Winters can be harsh.
10. Was it hard to talk to your viewers when you first became a streamer? How long before you became at ease with streaming?
I start off slow. You talk to yourself more so at the beginning, since no one knows who you are. However, I am comfortable talking through my play and explaining things to no one (sometimes people like to watch the videos later to learn). Now, as I am growing, it is very challenging to focus on gameplay, talk about the game, and chat with people. But it is definitely fun!
11. Would you like to tell my readers anything else about yourself or about your Twitch channel?
Whether you are interested in gaming or need to talk to someone, please know that I am always available to chat on stream or via twitter. It is not about the games. It is about the social interactions and relationships with people. Something that I think is also important in education. Relationships. That’s what everything is about.
12. What are the links for your Twitch channel and any other channel you would love my readers to know or follow?
The link to my channel is www.twitch.tv/mrmikeMTL . I can also be found at twitter @mrmikemtl and @mrmikeMTLGaming.
Teacher, Author, and Streamer- Mr. Mike is exceptional, and he has done such a great time in my opinion wearing his new hats as Author and Streamer. I really hope that you take the time to get to know this guy more and join him in his stream chat. I hope to see you there sometime. Also, don’t forget to check him out on Twitter.
