Side Note
Here is the same scene from earlier only in second person
My writing
You sit on a bench, staring at the pond while fish lazily swim just under the surface. You hold a book in your hand you have been trying to read for the past several minutes, but you can’t concentrate. You keep thinking about the upcoming dance and how you will be going alone again. You don’t mind really since you will be taking your writing things with you to work on your new fantasy book, but it would have been fun to go with friends at least.
You lower your head when you hear someone laughing behind you and you see Cindy and her soulless heard. She is the Queen at your school and always makes your life miserable for no reason. You have never said anything bad to her or made fun of her. But for some reason, she loves to torment you. Jokes on her though, because in your new book, she is the antagonist, and she dies in the end. That thought makes you smile and you turn your attention back to the book, finally able to concentrate on your reading.
You finish reading a few chapters and stretch, checking your watch to see what time it is before you stand up. You see it is nearly 3 in the afternoon and you decide to head home so you can get to work on writing your book. You are eager to get to Cindy’s death scene.
Oh, so you are sort of the witness to someone’s actions. Ok, that makes sense. But how do you know what they think? I’m clueless and probably need to study it. I might have commented wrong on the previous version. LOL.
Thankfully for fiction you can “make” the character think your way. But I have no clue. This is why you never see books in second person. Or I’ve never seen any. Would be interesting to see if there are books in second person.
