Writing Exercise

Write a scene for your character based of 6 emotions provided.

Side Note

I will be writing a new character for this exercise and will write a new scene for each emotion. I will also be posting new scenes in separate blogs.

Emotions

  1. Anger
  2. Disgust
  3. Fear
  4. Happiness
  5. Sadness
  6. Surprise

New Character

Durwin, Male, buzzed head, marble gray eyes, 5’8″, pink skin

First Scene- Anger

Durwin picked up his coffee after the barista called his name. He took a sip and enjoyed the hot drink slide down his throat. He thanked the barista and complimented her on her coffee making skills before he walked off. He sipped the coffee again as he walked, headed for a table and chair by the window.

A kid ran in front of him and caused Durwin to spill his coffee all over his green shirt and blue jeans. The coffee pooled around his feet and Durwin cursed under his breath. He glared at the kid who just laughed at him. The kid ran off and did the same thing to another person with the same outcome.

Durwin looked around until he saw the kid’s mother sitting in the corner. She was on her phone, talking loud and being obnoxious. The people around her glared at her and one even asked her to quiet down. The woman waved the person away and talked even louder.

Durwin hissed as he walked over to the woman and towered over her, his nostrils flaring. “Excuse me?”

She laughed and said something about Durwin in front of her before she continued her conversation. Behind Durwin, the manger walked up and crossed her arms over her chest.

Durwin reached down and snatched the phone away from the woman. He placed it to her ear. “Sorry, but she has to go.” He hung up and dropped the phone on the table, his eyes narrowed at the woman. “Your son is running around and has caused a few of us to spill or coffee. And you are being loud and obnoxious on the phone,” he said in a low voice. “I think you and your kid need to leave.”

“Oh and are you the coffee police?” she laughed as she sneered at him but she refused to budge.

“Bo, but if you don’t leave, then I will call the police,” the manager said. “You and your child are also banned from coming to our coffee shop as well.”

“Well then!” The woman stood, grabbed her belongings, grabbed her son, and left.
