Writing Exercise

Write an epilogue to one of your stories where the main character got their happy ending.

Side Note

I will write the epilogue for my YA Paranormal book. I know how I want the book to end so I will do my best writing an epilogue. And I will give Scout her happy ending.

My Epilogue

Scout sat on a bench in a park in her new town. She had moved to the new town after she graduated from Azriel High. A soft breeze swayed leaves in the trees around her and she shivered ever so slightly. She closed her eyes and listened to the leaves sing for a moment.

It had been four years since she had graduated high school after the horrific attack during Prom. Azriel High was back to normal per say, but those who had lived and survived the attack were still mourning the loss of their classmates and school staff.

Scout opened her eyes and stood up, ready to meet Shawn for the picnic date. She touched the scar on her face that she had gotten from the fight without realizing it. She followed the path until she saw Shawn standing beside a colorful blanket he had spread out under a tree. He had a picnic basket sitting on the blanket and he was looking for her.

Shawn grinned when he spotted Scout walking towards him. He pulled her into a tight hug and then kissed her. He broke the kiss and stared into her eyes. “How’s your day going, babe?”

“Good. Have a test tomorrow but I’ve got it.” Scout sat down and got comfortable.

Shawn opened the basket and took out the sandwiches he had made for them. Scout took one gratefully and was about to unwrap it when they were someone scream. Shawn chuckled and packed up their basket before he and Scout stood up. They scanned the area around them, heard another scream, and took off running towards the screaming. Shawn held the picnic basket and the banket tightly in his hands as he followed Scout.

“I feel like we picked a demon central town here, Scout,” Shawn said as he sat everything he was carrying down on the ground. They saw a woman being terrorized by a demon.

Scout smiled at him. “Almost as bad as Poway, huh? I guess Oregon can be chalked up there with California then.”

Scout and Shawn ran to the woman dragged the demon away fro the scared woman. She ran while Scout and Shawn fought the demon together. After the two had killed and disposed of the demon’s body, Shawn drove Scout back to her apartment that she shared with Katlyn and Jennifer.

“Well, that was a fun date,” Scout said, laughing as they went inside. “Let’s watch a movie while we eat.”

Shawn se the picnic up on the blanket on the living room floor while Scout got a movie ready. They sat on the floor, snuggled close as they ate and watched the movie.
