Writing Exercise
Your character is in danger and they have to use whatever they can get their hands on. Their primary weapon is what is to your right while their second dairy weapon is whatever is to your left.
Side Note
I’ll use Scout for this one since it sounds fun and she can easily use anything as a weapon.
Weapons
To my right- a chair
To my left- a book
My Story
Scout tossed some popcorn into her mouth while she watched a man with an axe chased a woman upstairs of her house. She took a sip of her Dr. Pepper and she glanced around the dark movie theater. As Scout had suspected, the movie theater was nearly full. Where she lived, most people loved to watch a scary horror movie, especially in a movie theater.
Scout turned her attention back to the screen and enjoyed the rest of the horror movie. After the movie, Scout tossed her trash and walked out into the cool night with the rest of the people. Scout walked towards The Bean Palace. She was looking forward to buying herself a mint hot chocolate.
A sound behind her made Scout stop and she turned to see what was going on. Two men in all black stalked after her, not even pretending that they weren’t. Scout rolled her eyes and stopped a little ways from the front of The Bean Palace. She grabbed her wallet and opened it, pretending to make sure she had money.
The two men slinked over to her, pulling their hands out of their pockets, glancing at each other with evil grins plastered on their faces. Scout out her wallet away in her bag and put the back back over her shoulders. She acted indifferent when the men split up and one snuck behind her while the other stopped inches in front of her.
Scout put on a naïve smile so the two didn’t know she was ready for them. “Oh, hi. Do you need something?” she asked the man in front of her, pretending she didn’t know his buddy was behind her.
The an grinned at her, showing Scout how he was already missing teeth. Scout quietly scoffed at the sight. Probably got in another fight and he lost.
“I just got out of the movies and saw you walking by yourself,” he said as he inched closer. “I just wanted to make sure you got to your next destination okay.”
“Oh, that’s very nice of you, but I am just going to get a hot chocolate from The Bean Palace. I’ll be fine,” Scout said, laying a hand on the metal chair next to her.
The man reached out to place his hand on her shoulder, but Scout took a alight step back so his hand missed her shoulder. He looked annoyed and tried again, but Scout smacked his hand away.
“Like I said, I’m fine,” Scout snarled at the man, tightening her grip on the chair. She cocked her head to the side to listen to the man behind her.
Without warning, she pulled the chair out from its spot under the table. Scout turned and slammed the chair against the other guy as hard as she could. The force knocked him off his feet with a yelp and a grunt when he hit the ground. Scout turned to face the other man and swung the heavy chair at him. The guy saw it coming and ducked, nearly getting hit by on of the metal legs. Scout lost her grip and sent the chair flying away from her.
The man saw this and lunged forward, grabbing Scout roughly by the shoulders. She brought her arms up and hit the man’s hands off of her. Scout looked around her to see what else she could used and spotted a book someone had forgotten. She kicked the man away from her and grabbed for the book.
The other man got up behind her and ran at her, trying to tackle her to the ground. Scout clutched the book close, leapt up, and pushed herself up and over the man using the table to help her gain air. The man tackled his friend instead and the two fell into a heap. they cursed at each other as they tried to get up.
Scout landed on her feet and walked over to the two. Before they could get up, Scout used the hard cover book, knocking the two out just as the police showed up. Someone had seen the fighting and had called 9-1-1 to get Scout some help.
Scout gave the police her statement and waved good bye as they took the men away in the back of one of the cars. Scout set the book down on the table she had found it so the owner could find it. She headed off to The Bean Palace to get her hot chocolate and something to nibble on after her exciting fight.
