Part 3
Aaron scramble away from the window. The grungy yellow eyes follow him as the curtains close. He can hear the thing tapping on his window again.
Tap… tap… tap…
“MOM!” Aaron throws open the door. “DAD!” He runs into Simon’s bedroom.
Simon sits up, rubbing his eyes. “Aaron? What’s going on?”
Aaron pulls Simon out of his bed, and they lean against it.
Tap… tap… tap…
Simon’s eyes widen. “What’s tapping on my window?”
“A mummy,” Aaron whispers. “Shhhh…. we need to keep our voices down.”
Simon nods and huddles close to his older brother.
“What about mommy and daddy?”
Tap… tap… tap… SMASH
The boys look at each other and screams. The leap to their feet and look to see the mummy crawling through the window. It reaches out for the boys, its grungy yellow eyes glaring at them. It groans.
Aaron drags Simon out of the room and down the hallway. Aaron shoves their parent’s door open, and the boys launch themselves on the bed.
Their parents are at the door, ready to leave to find out what is going on and turns to look at their scared sons.
“Aaron? Simon? What is going on?” Their mom sits down and cradles the two close. “We heard screaming and what sounds like glass breaking.”
Aaron hops out of bed and runs over to his dad. Down the hallway, the mummy lumbers out of Simon’s room.
“What is that?” His dad is about to confront the mummy, but Aaron stops him
Aaron slams the door shut and locks it. He pulls his dad away from the door, breathing hard. “It’s a mummy.”
“A mummy?” Their dad shakes his head in disbelief. “Like the one in your favorite movie?”
Aaron nods his head and sits down with his mom. He snuggles his head in her shoulder, shaking.
Bang…. Bang… Bang….
They all jump and look at the shaking door.
