October 10- Halloween Party

I walked around the room, the bottom of my blue princess dress swishing past other party goers. I laughed and nodded to some people, sipping on my Dr. Pepper. The mansion we were in for the Halloween party was beautifully decorated. Every inch had something, and each room had elegant Halloween trees that had been professionally decorated. I eyed the pictures as they shifted from normal faces to gore, dead, or terrifying. I headed for the stairs. I needed to find a quiet place.

Music throbbed through the mansion while lights flickered purple, green, orange, and black on the walls, creating a spooky atmosphere. I walked up the stairs, running my gloved hand on up the railing and leaned close as a few others hurried down. I stopped at the top and looked down, pushing my mask up on the top of my head. I always loved a good party, and this one was even better than last year. The owner of the house always had the best holiday parties, even though no one knows who he was or what he looked like. He kept himself a mystery.

I heard someone clear their throat behind me and I turned to find a man dressed as a black knight. I grinned and courtesy while he bowed and took my hand, kissing the top of it. “Milady, you look ravishing.”

I laughed and felt my cheeks turn red. “Thank you, my sweet knight.” I took my hand from his and looked back down at the party. “How are you enjoying yourself at the party?”

The knight took off his helmet and brushed his black hair back from his face. He joined her and looked down at the others. “It was okay until I found my princess.” He winked at me, and I couldn’t help but blush again. “I’m Josh.”

“Danielle,” I told him and ducked my head down. My cheeks were so red, I could feel it.

“Want to explore the mansion with me, Danielle?” He turned to look at me. “I have a feeling there are secrets in this place, like hidden rooms or something.”

I knew I shouldn’t head off with a stranger I just met, but he was nice and seemed trustworthy. I grabbed his hand and dragged him towards the first room to look for hidden passageways. Josh laughed as I dragged him and nearly dropped his helmet. He caught it and followed closely behind me, glancing over his shoulder to make sure no one had seen them. Once they were in the room, I let his hand go and headed to the closet. I opened it to find dresses and coats. I pushed them to one side and hit the back of the closet with my palm.

Josh sat his helmet down on the bed and peered over my shoulder. “Anything?”

I shook my head, looking disappointed. “Nope.” We moved into the bathroom, but found nothing, then into the next bedroom.

We checked the closet, and I clapped when the back opened. We climbed through and looked around as we walked into another room. I looked around and touched a few things in the small room. There was a couch and a few tables, but it wasn’t anything too fascinating. I saw a door and hurried over to it.

Before I could open it, Josh grabbed my hand and pulled me back to him. He had his other hand behind his back and smiled at me. “This place is cool.” He cocked his head to the side. “Let’s hang out in here for a moment.”

I looked around the room and wrinkled my nose. “Thanks, but I want to see if there are more rooms like this.” I pointed at the door. “I want to see what’s through that door.” Something caught my eye and I looked in the corner where there was something slumped in the shadows. “Josh, I think someone is in here.” I pulled free and walked over to the corner. “Hello?”

“Oh, don’t worry about him. He won’t be bothering us anytime soon.” Josh grinned and pulled the knife out from behind his back.

I glanced at the knife, then at him. “Josh?” I stood up and looked for a place to run. “What are you doing?”

Josh cocked his head to the side. “I had to get close to you. He was in the knight suit, so I decided to kill him and use his costume.” He grinned and moved closer, gently touching my cheek. “You are so beautiful, Danielle.” He pointed the knife at me. “It’s time for us to go. I’m taking you with me.”

“So, you’re kidnapping me?” I held up my arms and looked for a way to escape. “No, I’m not going with you.”

Josh smiled and waved at me with his knife. “Let’s go, princess.”

I walked towards him, my eyes tearing up. He reached for me and grabbed my arm, pulling me roughly behind him. Josh dragged me back to the closet and was about to pull me through when I stopped, digging my heels into the ground as much as I could. Josh felt the drag and turned to look at me. I smiled and pulled him towards me, throwing him off balance. As he came closer, I reached behind me in a hidden pouch of the dress and wrapped my fingers around my own knife. I withdrew it and slammed it into his side, making sure to go around the armor of the costume.

Josh gasped and stared into my eyes as I yanked free from his grasp with ease and stepped back. I slid the mask back over my eyes and watched as he staggered towards me. I met him halfway and stabbed him again, this time in the side of the neck. I chuckled as I watched the man drop to the ground in a pool of blood. I kicked his knife out of his hand and pushed him onto his back, waving my knife at him.

“Well, this was an interesting party. I came here to kill a few of the partygoers downstairs, drawing them away with my mysterious beauty, and here I caught another killer.” I pulled his shirt out from under the armor and wiped my knife clean. I stood up and walked back towards the door I had wanted to go through and pushed it open. I then grabbed the man he had killed and dragged him inside. After that, I grabbed Josh and dragged him into the room, where he saw several dead bodies already.

“Shoot!” I looked down at my bloody dress. “I guess I’m going as a killer princess then.” I leaned down and kissed his cheek. “Goodbye, my sweet knight in shining armor.”

Josh gagged and gasped, his vision of me blurring until he could no longer see me any longer. I closed the door behind me and exited the closet into the room after I made sure no one was there. Satisfied, I closed the hidden door in the closet and made my way back to the party for my next victim.
