Date- July 3, 2020- End of the day
Yesterday finished on a sour note for us. Kids wouldn’t go to sleep, hubby is dealing with his own chronic pain, I am still in a lot of pain in my stomach where the surgery site is as well as on the back of my head where it had been up during the entire surgery. I have also noticed pain in my right arm, where it bends at the elbow as if they had to hold my arm out for the entirety of the surgery as well.
I tried to go to bed early but didn’t fall asleep until well past 11 pm because of the pain I was in. I had taken something for the pain already earlier so I couldn’t take anything else. I did my best but it was a bad night sadly. I did sleep but not well. Especially because I still cannot sleep on my sides. And oh how I want to.
We have been having our youngest sleep in her own room (she turns 2 this month), which has been going great, thankfully. But she did get up at 4 am when my husband, who like I said is dealing with his own chronic pain that keeps him up at night, finally came to bed. So she slept a bit with us in our bed but not for long.

I slept in this morning and didn’t get up until a little after 8 am. The pain is still there but thankfully today isn’t as bad. The extra sleep I think helped but still getting up is rough. Definitely takes my breath away whenever I have to sit up from laying down or when I have to stand up to go use the restroom.
I stayed in bed until 11 am and then made my way downstairs so that hubby can take Cara up for a nap. She is definitely one of those kiddos that need naps or she gets craaaaanky! Oh, boy does she ever.
So now I am writing this blog while she and my husband, who definitely needs it today too, naps, and my oldest rests in her own room. Really hoping that sleep comes better tonight. And might I just add, sneezing and coughing really hurts.
Today is the 4th of July and as much as we would have loved to go out to be with family and celebrate, we are of course staying inside because of the virus and because of my surgery.
To me getting my surgery done quickly and as soon as they could get me in was more important to me. Even if there hadn’t been a virus, I would have still done this. Getting my health back and getting rid of the hernia is definitely the main priority here.
As painful as this is, if you need surgery, do it! The pain and the time you need to heal is well worth it as you can claim your health back. Once I am fully healed, I will be able to do my walking again and do whatever else it takes in order to get myself at a weight I feel is healthy. Not just for myself but for my husband and kids. I want to live a full healthy life with my husband and watch my girls grow up, teaching them from right and wrong and to achieve their dreams with our help.
To all of you celebrating today, stay safe, stay healthy, and make sure to wear your mask! It does help save others from catching this nasty virus.
