Dedicated to Jacob Ballou
Part 2
Aaron lays in bed, listening.
Tap… tap… tap…
He sits up in bed, his wide eyes staring around the room. He can’t tell if the tapping is inside his room or outside. A shadow crosses over his window.
Aaron sucks in his breath when he watches the shadow cross his window again. He pushes off his covers and scrambles out of bed. He ducks down and crawls over to his window. He slowly stands up, breathing hard.
He pushes back his curtain and peeks outside. His house is a single level so anyone can come up to his window and tap on it. Maybe it is his best friend, Dean.
He ducks down when something moves outside.
Tap…. tap… tap….
A low branch hits his window.
Tap… tap… tap…
Aaron laughs and walks back to his bed. He crawls in bed, covers up, and sighs. He closes his eyes, laughing at himself.
Aaron yawns and lets him fall asleep.
Tap… tap… tap…
Aaron looks at the window, but he can’t see the tree hitting his window.
Tap… tap… tap…
Aaron groans and gets out of bed, walking to the window. He pouts. “I just want to get some sleep.”
He pushes his windows and stares into the grungy yellow eyes of a mummy.
Aaron steps back from the window and screams.
